SAVEC is dedicated to providing skills training in some of the fastest-growing industries in the state. Working with a wide array of training partners, SAVEC can respond rapidly to industry & community needs by providing rapid response training. Career opportunities exist at SAVEC in a variety of areas to include Construction, Health Care, Computer Careers, and Fisheries. SAVEC has always been well known for its Heavy Equipment Operator Training, Driver's Education, CDL, Welding, and Carpentry Workforce Development Programs. We are excited about future offerings in the oil, gas, and mineral development industries.
The mission of SAVEC is "to promote, coordinate and provide high-quality training and education to residents of Southwest Alaska." SAVEC's vision is “committed to building a healthy, educated and employed local regional workforce.”
SAVEC is an independent organization, which gives it a strong measure of flexibility and the ability to quickly respond to the needs of industries. The center has a significant infrastructure in place that helps it to be an outstanding educational provider.
The Southwest Alaska Vocational and Education Center (SAVEC) was founded in June 2002 as a 501 (c)3 organization. SAVEC is located in the Bristol Bay region of Alaska. The center provides career and workforce development training to the residents of Bristol Bay and rural residents from around the state. SAVEC is governed by an eight-member board of directors that includes representation from all of the major regional organizations in Bristol Bay.
